I think I got my money's worth for $117, but I'd not be buying this bag if I considered paying the full price of $328.The requested page title is invalid. This bag was in one of Dillard's glassed in display cases, so the assistant had to get it out for me. Is that how Dooney's are made now? The lining is kind of a pinky-white combo color. Do Dooney's have plastic zippers? Also, the little brass fob has unfishinshed leather on one side and the underside of the shoulder strap is an unfinished leather, too. My questions are: This bag has a plastic zipper. It has no other remarkable markings except for the Dooney Duck on a circular brass tag.

It is a nice medium green color with brown handles and a brown Dooney name patch in the center of the bag. The bag is made of the pebbled all-weather leather.

I ended up paying $109 plus tax for $117. It was a $328 bag marked down to $220 or so, and then Dillards was running a 40% off the sale price. It's been a while since we had a Dooney Sub Forum, but I would like to ask the Dooney owners out there a few questions about a shoulder bag that I purchased at Dillards.įirst of all, I had to get this bag. I know Dooney products were way better a long time ago, and even though my conclusion is that this is a real Dooney, your post, BigPurseSue, definitely leads me to believe that the quality has gone downhill on a tobogan, it seems. This is a post that I made a few weeks ago and I had the very same concerns about the handle quality, interior quality, and overall stitching, too.

The color on the leather started flaking off the day after I bought it. On the China bag it's stiff as cardboard. The leather on the USA bag is much nicer, more substantial. The China bag has a floppy cardboard bottom with leather ties on the sides to make it square. Notice how the USA bag is larger and has heavy leather on the sides and bottom. The Made-in-USA bag is on the left, the Made-in-China one on the right. So here for your entertainment (or maybe horror) are my Dooney pictures. But I still don't understand it: how manufacturers say they must go to China to keep prices down, but once they do move production overseas quality declines and prices sky-rocket. I know the Made-in-USA versus Made-in-China debate has been done to death and there can be no resolution because just about all bags are made in China now. In some regards the decline in quality is shocking. I stood them side by side and took some pictures of them. Of course the 3-year-old bag was Made in the USA, while my 1-year-old bag was Made in China. When I received it I was struck at home much better in quality and construction it is than a similar Dooney draw-string bag I bought a year ago from. I recently purchased on ebay a Dooney draw-string bag of fabric and leather.
